BETTER HOMES ALL WAYS

Looking  to Refresh Your Home’s Interiors? Start with a Fresh Coat of White

The first month of 2023 passed by incredibly quickly as I shopped with my daughter for her wedding dress!  As I sit here writing this blog, I must share how it came to be that I’ve picked the color white as a topic! We didn’t realize just how many dresses would be tried on and sent away. But interestingly enough, all of those “white” dresses were quite different in tonal values and the choice was very difficult indeed! But yes, she said Yes to The Dress – an antique creamy white hue that echoed elegance. Hence, my next blog idea below – let me tell you my thoughts on Winter white for a home’s interior:

Winter white is a decorating style that emphasizes the use of light, neutral colors in a home’s interior during the winter months. By using light-colored walls, fabrics, and accessories, a room can appear brighter and more spacious, creating a fresh and airy feeling.                                              This can help to counteract the darker, cozier atmosphere that is common during the winter so that it creates a more refreshing and energizing environment that can carry through to spring. Additionally, because the use of light colors can also reflect more natural light into a room, this technique can help to create a brighter and more open space.  Keeping these ideas in perspective, a scheme of  magentas (as discussed in my last blog) and white will add to the appeal of your home whether it’s a brand new purchase or on the market for buyers.   Some popular shades of white for winter home decor include:

  • Soft white: This is a warm, creamy white that creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
  • Cool white: This is a crisp, bright white that creates a clean and modern look.
  • Off-white: This is a white with a slight yellow or gray undertone that adds depth and dimension to a room.
  • Antique white: This is a white with a slight yellow or pink undertone that gives a room a vintage or aged feel.
